With a quarter of the season behind us, the 2025 MLB campaign is in full swing. It's too early to see who the true contenders for the World Series as well as end-of-season awards are, but at this juncture we can crown Nike as true innovators of the on-field jersey movement in the 21st century.
The sportswear giant has once again blurred the lines between performance footwear and fan culture with the release of the Air Max 270 MLB City Connect Pack. This limited-edition collection pays homage to MLB's most vibrant uniform series through subtle color blocking and team-specific details in the Air Max 270 silhouette.
Design Highlights
Each pair in the 10-shoe collection features:
- Team-specific knit uppers matching City Connect jersey colors
- Embroidered team logos on the tongue
- Custom insoles with franchise mottos
- Translucent outsoles revealing hidden design elements
Availability
The pack launched exclusively on Nike SNKRS and at select MLB team stores today. Notably absent are Yankees and Dodgers colorways, with Nike reps suggesting those "might arrive during the postseason push."
At $180 per pair, these are positioned as collectors' items rather than game-day performance shoes. Early reaction on social media suggests particularly strong demand for the Miami Marlins ("Vice Nights") and Arizona Diamondbacks ("Serpientes") editions.
