The new star-embellished Air Force 1 draws direct inspiration from the iconic 2006 NBA All-Star edition.
Nike's latest Air Force 1 release is sending sneakerheads on a nostalgic trip back to 2006. The newly unveiled "Star-Studded" edition bears striking resemblance to the coveted All-Star AF1 that debuted during the NBA's midseason classic in Houston eighteen years ago.
A Blast from the Past
The connection becomes immediately apparent when examining the design languages of both shoes. Like its predecessor, this iteration features:
- Metallic silver leather base
- Contrasting navy blue accents
- Shimmering starburst embellishments on the lateral and medial sides
- Reflective 3M hits on the heel and tongue

Modern Touches on a Classic
While paying homage to the 2006 original, Nike has implemented subtle updates to align with contemporary preferences. The new model features a slightly slimmer silhouette and replaces the original's chrome plate on the heel with embossed starburst patterning. Most notably, the updated version replaces the NBA All-Star logos with abstract celestial motifs.
"This design perfectly bridges nostalgia and freshness," says sneaker historian Jamal Wright. "They've preserved the star power essence while letting the shoe exist beyond its basketball roots."
