Nike's latest edition of the iconic Air Force 1 has sneakerheads buzzing and reminiscing about one of the most coveted basketball shoe releases from 2006.
Throwback to 2006
The refracting star pattern on this year's AF1 immediately calls to mind Michael Jordan's special edition Air Jordan 1 release during the 2006 NBA All-Star Weekend in Houston. That limited-edition pair featured red, white, and blue stitching against a deep black leather background.
"The 2006 All-Star Jordans were revolutionary - they transformed simple stars into a status symbol," says sneaker historian Marcus Deion.
Similarities Between the Two
- Star clusters radiating from the lateral side
- Contrast stitching enhancing dimensional depth
- High-profile athlete connections (Jordan vs. current NBA ambassadors)
- Released during All-Star season
